The Dwelling Place

Who We Are

The Dwelling Place is a gathering of followers of Jesus Christ with a passion for the Presence of God – desiring to establish a place where God delights to dwell among His people, where we worship and adore Him in Spirit and truth and come before Him to sit at His feet and hear and be transformed by Him.

We are evangelical in the sense of being convinced of the inerrancy of the Bible and the commission to spread the good news of the Kingdom of God locally and in foreign missions. We desire to be as biblically faithful as possible.

We are charismatic (pentecostal), believing that the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit should be active in the church today, and to provide place for the manifestation of the spiritual gifts such as prophecy, tongues, healing, and miracles. Once a month we have an evening prophetic ministry service.

We are Anglican – in a unique way. Anglicans are Christians who trace their spiritual lineage through the Church of England back to apostolic and Christian celtic roots (think St. Patrick, St. Aiden etc.). This means we are vitally connected to the historic Christian faith reaching back to the apostles. We adhere to the Nicene Creed as a defining summary of the core of the Christian faith. Through our pastor, who is an ordained Anglican priest (presbyter) of the Anglican Church of Tanzania (Diocese of Biharamulo) we maintain connection to biblically faithful Anglicans who hold fast to the faith once delivered to the apostles. Although we are Anglican, and we delight to celebrate communion (the Eucharist) every Sunday morning – we are “liturgical light”, not bound to excessive ritual but desiring to be led by the Holy Spirit in our worship. Being Anglican provides us with “spiritual covering” to protect against heresy, liberal theological nonsense, and doctrines of men. We are aware that some provinces in the Anglican Communion have departed from the biblical faith passed down from the apostles and have embraced conforming to the world system. We grieve over this departure from the true faith and are committed to fellowship with those provinces who remain biblically faithful.

How Do We Worship?

We desire to both recognize the need to hallow the Presence of God as well as feel welcomed in His Presence

We dress casually – no need for dress clothes

We love to spend time in deep, God-centered praise and worship

We have lectors to read passages from Holy Scripture (revised common lectionary)

Biblically centered preaching to deepen our walk with Christ and edify the church

We believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and celebrate communion every Sunday

We come before the throne of grace to bring our intercessions before the Lord and pray over anyone who needs individual prayer ministry
